What is E-Participation?

Electronic participation is an innovative concept that uses digital technologies to allow all parts of society and relevant parties to express opinions, participate in dialogue and interact on topics of interest to them. Along with increasing transparency, inclusivity, and efficiency by making it easier for individuals to share their views, e-participation aims to enhance public involvement in decision-making processes and drive positive change through gauging opinion and participant consultation .

E-Participation and the RCU

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) is dedicated to the guardianship and development of AlUla, a region of outstanding natural and cultural significance in North-West Saudi Arabia. RCU is embarking on a long-term plan to develop and deliver a sensitive and sustainable transformation of the region, reaffirming it as one of the country’s most important archaeological and cultural destinations and preparing it to welcome visitors from all over the world.

With the employment of e-participation, the RCU will leverage digital platforms to engage citizens, stakeholders, and experts in the planning and decision-making processes. By fostering inclusive and transparent communication, e-participation not only enhances public involvement but also ensures that the development of AlUla reflects the collective vision and expertise of a diverse community.

Community Participation Policy

E-participation contributes to providing full support, as its communication and interaction channels allow for everyone's opinions and suggestions to be conveyed to decision-makers.

RCU will analyse and review posts before publishing them through digital communication channels, to ensure compliance with the applicable laws and regulations. The Commission also reserves the right not to publish or to delete any posts that may conflict with its policy or the laws in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
